This is an entry to the website not online, so it is mostly documentation of the motivation behind <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ronbosroad.com\/\">ronbosroad.com<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first day of 2023 finds me on BLM land that a few years ago, was a recreational area used primarily by &#8220;snowbirds&#8221;, mostly retired people in RVs, who would drive down from the northern US and Canada to spend a few months out of the snow. I first came down here after being snowed in for two months in the PacNW so I could do more things retired people are supposed to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second trip down here I was rear ended by a semi truck, insurance refused to pay for anything and within a couple weeks I was a homeless veteran. Instead of coming to this area as a potential new business owner, I was coming here as a homeless person. In the years following the accident, I watched America collapse, fatally crippled by greed. There was no need to &#8220;work my way back&#8221;, I could watch America collapse from the side of the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This area, unnamed because we all know &#8220;free speech&#8221; comes with repercussions, has changed from a recreational area to a refugee camp. Refugees from America&#8217;s broken down, corrupt government and the criminals that actually run the country. These people are not homeless bums. They all had jobs, many of them are veterans, none of them are on drugs. They are lucky to get the prescription drugs they need to stay alive. Some come here to cross the border with Mexico to buy prescription drugs they can&#8217;t afford in the United States. Retired people on government pensions who come here to vacation stay at $500\/month RV parks with golf and swimming pool. Retired people on Social Security and retirement savings come here.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/ronbosroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/12-31-22.jpg\" alt=\"American refugee camp in the desert southwest\" class=\"wp-image-41\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ronbosroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/12-31-22.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ronbosroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/12-31-22-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>After being one of these people for five years now, I&#8217;ve learned a few things. What is the number one cause of homelessness in the United States? Drug use, like the police and government say? In the past few years, so many people started using drugs that they now live on the street?<br>Like just about everything else in America these days, it&#8217;s another lie on top of the huge stack of past lies. The number one reason for homelessness, and second place isn&#8217;t even close, is the inability to pay medical bills. Bankrupted, everything in your life you worked for gone because somebody got sick. That&#8217;s obscene. What kind of civilized society does that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Being put on the side of the road, is a terrible thing. You realize that things you have been led to believe are false. Especially for veterans. You believe in your country enough to put your life on the line to protect it. When you&#8217;re done, you&#8217;re kicked to the street. That&#8217;s a tough thing to take.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Camped next to me are two elderly women, like me, living in their vehicles, small compact SUVs. It&#8217;s very sad. Put me out in the woods or out in the desert, that&#8217;s where I live anyway. To put old women out here like this, living out of a car. What have they done to deserve this? No night on the town, no parties, nobody to talk to on New Years Eve and New Years Day.
