Homeless people are part of America, like it or not. The turmoil of a divided America is going to produce many, many more. Elderly people who worked their entire life only to be kicked to the street because they did not make enough money on retirement funds and social security to pay the bills of the rising price of living in America. People living outdoors because someone in their family got sick, insurance refused to pay, another homeless family on the street. People with mental health problems, America has decided the best treatment for them would be to live under a freeway bridge. American veterans, victimized by the very people they offered their lives to protect. The sense of betrayal by their own nation is something the average Cheeto eating, TV watching American who has done nothing, will never understand.
One thing America has in abundance is worthless dirtbags. They think freedom means they can do whatever they want, fuck everybody else. No matter where you go in any part of the country, at any time and there will be one dirtbag to fuck it up for everybody else. It’s more American than the Star Spangled Banner.
Take Cousin Eddie here. Him and his partner, a woman I think, are camping next to me. They and their four dogs, including an untrained pitbull that goes after everything that moves, are living in an old pop up camper tent. He’s checking to see if I’m here so he can let his dogs take a shit on my tent. Listening to this lovely couple grunt and groan their way through the night is the true song of the desert. When he or his partner use the public restroom, they tie the vicious pitbull to a post outside the bathroom to make sure nobody else can use it. I only had one conversation with him.

“We are homeless because we can’t afford a place to live with our four dogs.“
How much can you afford to pay?
“We don’t work because we have to take care of the dogs.“
Nice talking to you Eddie. God Bless America.
